Topic: Now that we have watched and discussed the film, post your thoughts on the following topic: Silent films were, for many decades, the only way to see a film until the Jazz Singer came alongin 1927 and changed all that. Sound in f1ilm was not accepted right away as a positive change. Many saw it as disruptive. Now - silent films are almost never made, and even when they are - it is more for comedic or nostalgic reasons rather than a way to tell a story. So, now that you have seen a silent film (probably the first time for most of you) - did the lack of dialog take away from the story? So - looking at this film in an honest way - do you feel like the fact that it was a silent film - made it harder to follow the story or was the story just as good without spoken dialog?
