Question:

- I've created a working example that allows you to simulate some of the logic gates we discussed.(Intro to Logic Gates - sciencedemos.org.uk.jsonDownload Intro to Logic Gates - sciencedemos.org.uk.json) to your computer.
- On the logic gates webpage(from step 1),click "Load" and choose the file you just downloaded. When loaded, it should appear similar to this:
- Clickthe"play"button at the top right. The initial segment of each example should turnred, indicating it is running/on.
- Note that the '1' values only provide 'electricity' to the circuit. They are NOT the actual input(s).
- Also, the circle on the right of each example is ared LED light. It is theOUTPUT. If it is empty/blank, that meansOFF/0/FALSE(). If it is red, then it isON/1/TRUE().
- You will use the Toggle buttons to close/open switches. A closed control isON/1/TRUE(); an open switch isOFF/0/FALSE ().
- All switches are initially set to OFF/0/FALSE ().
- Clickthe"play"button at the top right. The initial segment of each example should turnred, indicating it is running/on.
- Your job is to turn switches on and off for each logic gate example, noting the INPUT values (switch positions) and the OUTPUT value (LED light).
- In a Word document, answer the following questions (number your answers, please):
- What operator does Binary Gate 1 represent?
- What operator does Binary Gate 2 represent?
- What operator does Binary Gate 3 represent?
- What operator does Unary Gate 1 represent?
- What operator does Gate A represent?
- What operator does Gate B represent?
- In the same Word document, create truth tables(using 'insert table' or however you like, as long as it's readable)for each gate example, using all possibilities as inputs. You will end up with six (6) truth tables.
- The binary gate truth tables should have the following form with the? Positions filled in with the output values:
x | y | x (logic gate name) y |
0 | 0 | ? |
0 | 1 | ? |
1 | 0 | ? |
1 | 1 | ? |
- The unary gate truth table will only have a single input (x) and the output column--with only two (2) rows of input/output values.
