W4 Discussion Question 1: Understanding Designs

Purpose: As a researcher, it is important that you be able to read a research article and evaluate the type of design the researchers used. The purpose of this week is to apply your learning to the evaluation of existing research and improve your ability to understand and critique experimental design.

Post: Locate a research article in which the researchers utilized a factorial design (preferably an article you are familiar with from your research paper). Describe what is meant by a "main effect" and an "interaction". How can you identify if there was a main effect and interaction in the study you selected? Discuss how understanding this is beneficial as a researcher.
