Make sure that you mention their strengths, but also focus on at least two items or competencies that you both agree they would like to have growth in. The goal should be to position them for success in their current role or in future roles. This is not corrective action. This does not have to be a letter. Remember that competencies are behaviors tied to a job that are required to make someone successful in that role.
