I agree with your first point about the things Alcatel did well regarding its boot camps, allowing participants to have control over the idea that they research and develop likely improves the efficiency in which the employees work to bring it to fruition. It also gives them more creative control which can make working in a high-paced and high-pressured environment more bearable. I agree with your advice that to revive boot camps, a show of unity needs to be seen by management to encourage lower-level employees to partake in the initiative.
