I am designing a low temperature shift reactor for ammonia synthesis process. This is an adiabatic fixed bed reactor. What maybe the control system for this individual equipment to control the temperature inside reactor? There is no cooling jacket in the reactor. Insulation keeps it adiabatic. Heat generated in the exothermic water gas shift reaction accelerates the reaction rate. So, basically i need to develop a control system to avoid runaway reaction.
