I believe that as lead times decrease and manufacturing times decrease we will start to see more JIT type of production. The current pitfalls of JIT manufacturing lay within the unknown demand and the lead time that is required to produce and transport to customers. That is why I think that when manufactures reach a point where they can produce and transport faster than their demand we will see more and more companies converting their production to JIT. JIT would allow companies to cut back on their waste and maximize their profit which is every companies goal. With the use of technology to accurately forecasts future demand and potential market changes, we will see many of the losses that companies currently endure during these shifts within the market start to decrease as a result of their JIT system cutting off production
