He advertises both externally and internally for the position stating in the ad that he is "seeking a self$-$driven personality willing to work long hours" He also states that "the ideal candidate will have a master's degree in business". Three internal candidates apply for the position and are given interviews. One of the candidates, Elizabeth Enthusiastic, has an MBA and has worked for the company for $6$ months. In her interview, Ernie brings up the fact that she has taken a number of sick days and she explains that she has a small child at home who was sick. After completing the interviews, Ernie hires Matthew Mature who has worked at the company for $4$ years. In making the decision, Ernie states that even though Matthew does not have his MBA, he has shown his dedication to the firm by his hard work over the years and is thus ideal for the position.
