Ethics and Professionalism Project Assignment Ethics and professionalism perform a vital role in ensuring the accountants executes their responsibilities in compliances with the accounting standards. Ethics is defined as the moral principles that leading people when they perform their duties in the company. Professionalism is the qualities that distinguish a professional person from others that are not professionals. For that reason, regulations, accounting, professional and auditing standards influence positively to the ethics of an accountant when they are performing their accounting responsibilities. AICPA professional standard is one of the national professional organizations of CPAs in the US ("Professional Responsibilities", n.d.). The organization provides all information on Code of Ethics, which is important as in terms of practicing CPA and auditors in the organization. Also, the AICPA plays a role in setting ethical standards for the professional and auditing standards for audits of private companies (Vitez, n.d.). AICPA Code of Professional Conduct states that CPAs and auditors should be independent, when it comes to performing their auditing and accounting responsibilities. In addition, this also means that external factors should not influence their decisions in the organization. Furthermore, AICPA provide framework that CPAs and auditors must perform their responsibilities very honestly and with the prominent level of integrity, because based on their work, the public and investors would be completely relied on their decisions in the organization (Vitez, n.d.). CPAs and auditors should be stay away from self- interest and other kind of relationship while providing financial services to clients (Vitez, n.d.). In conclusion, Regulations, accounting, and auditing standards have a positive impact on the ethics of the CPAs and auditors, because they stimulus the way they perform their work in the organization. Also, the regulations and accounting and auditing standards provide the accountants and auditors with the CPA and auditing guideline, hence minimal unprofessionalism is revealed in the organization.
