I have had the opportunity to develop a growth plan for myself. About 3 years ago, I charted a five-year career plan with specific milestones, such as gaining experience in different work areas, pursuing further education, and developing new skills. I can say I`m not quite there, but I have achieved some short-term goals. I learned the importance of having clear goals and being able to adapt to any change that will come along.
My personal measure of success includes
professional growth: having a career advancement by taking on leadership roles and learning new skills is important for me. It will help me remain competitive and contribute to my organization more effectively.
Impact: making a positive impact in my organization or in community will give me a purpose.
Work-life balance:Maintaining a healthy balance between my professional and personal life. This is very important for my overall well-being and long-term productivity.
I have had to develop several growth plans before. I have had to create ways to lower our delivery costs. It can be more challenging than it seems since we were already doing what we could to keep costs low in the first place. I had to come up with new ideas and research other ideas that we originally thought werent possible.
Success to me is about continuous improvement. If my team and myself are in a better position now than we were in the past then I would consider that successful. This will lead to better quality, more experience, more money, and more opportunities for promotions.
