After going through the readings and videos for this week I learned a few things along the way. One major section that surprised me from the videos this week was the importance of job searching online in places like LinkedIn and Indeed. They are both top areas for job seekers, as well as hiring teams from many different companies. Additionally, one of the most important things I learned from the videos was the main point on reviewing not only the job I want, which is business related but to also do background research on the company looking to work for. One of the biggest companies I am trying to work for in the North Carolina area is Apple. After I graduate with my MBA summer of 2024, Apple will have completed another headquarters in the Raleigh, NC area and that is where I live and have done plenty of research on. Another major point I learned from this week was the fact that I must prepare in a few different ways in order to obtain the position I am searching for. For example, the videos speak on the importance of setting up a proper resume, as well as focusing on networking with people in the certain career field I am looking for. Lastly, in order for me to obtain the job I want, I must have a great resume, great networking skills, complete my MBA with UMGC and focus on the correct line of work that best fits my degree and needs.
