This variable will be operationalized by measuring the number of students who are registered in afterschool programs, how often they go (e.g., how many days a week), and the kinds of activities that are offered (for example, academic help, arts, sports, etc.). On the other hand, high school graduation rates show the percentage of students who finish high school within the standard four-year time limit. To operationalize this variable, we will compare the graduation rates of students who took part in afterschool programs to those who did not.
