I think AI will continue to replace the human workforce as it learns and adapts. Businesses will invest heavily by quietly replacing retiring workers with machine equivalents. I would argue though, that this has been happening for hundreds of years. The pony express was replaced first by trains, then by telegraph, then by email. Farmers no longer use any army of hired (or sometimes purchased) field hands and instead use million-dollar combines operated by one person. The difference is, of course, AI technology can now replace that one person.
