I think inflation became a consistent issue post WWII. I think it was due to the weakening of the American dollar, but no one could really know what an exact cause was unless it was meticulously planned. I am not sure any president could do anything to fix inflation on a permanent basis because we will always have that issue. Just today, our electric bill (balanced billing and no usage changes) went up another $32 a month. Fixed income people or employees who never receive a COL raise are struggling more today than in many years. I think the inflation rates are out of control due to lack of supplies and greed. It seems as though when we are out of crises, prices never return to pre-crisis levels, hence the consistent increases.
