I want to design a research question using hierarchical multiple regression. This is what I have so far:

This quantitativestudy will attempt to determine whether acculturation stress, gender, and parent marital status (single/divorced or married), predict emotional intelligence (EI) in Latinx children after controlling for socioeconomic status (SES). It is hypothesized that EI will be negatively associated with acculturation stress, gender, and parent marital status.

I am not sure if there is a better way to word my research question. I am also not sure if I worded my hypothesis correctly. I am trying to say that the less emotional intelligence you have, the more acculturative stress you will have; especially if parents are not intact. Also, I do not think gender will make a difference. How would I word that in my hypothesis? Thanks!
