Identify a case in your organisation where you had your internship programme and critically analyse the case with reference to any theory/theories and concepts of leadership.

FORMAT

You are at liberty to decide how you would want to structure your work; however, you can also use or adapt the following basic framework with sub-headings as you may choose. Note that these elements are covered within your work.

a) Introduction to the assignment (probably no more than 150 words)

Give a general introduction to your paper.

b) Overview of the case study (up to 350 words)

Describe the case to be analysed. Present a brief overview of the case study and do not write so much to describe the case. I would not recommend exceeding a maximum of 350 words.

c) Critical evaluation (at least 1500 words)

The main body of the assignment should concentrate on a detailed analysis and critical evaluation of your case study using theory/theories and concepts of leadership covered in your HRM 481 Strategic leadership and Influence course.

Presentation of evidence is important. Make efforts to buttress claims, opinions or inferences you make with evidence from literature. You can also utilise illustrative material which can be drawn from your own memory/experience, from documents, or from conversations you had with people who are concerned. There is the need to consider alternative perspectives and interpretations.

Highlight how your case might relates to the theories/frameworks you choose to discuss. Remember, to demonstrate how the theory/theories help to understand practice, and how the case also helps to understand the utility of the theory/theories.

d) Conclusion (up to 500 words)

Summarise the lessons learnt from the case and how they enhance the understanding of leadership, OB and HRM issues in the organisations and other contexts.

Synthesise a few important take home messages that flow logically from what you have analysed rather than a summary of all the points. Before you close the write-up, make recommendations.

Make sure you use APA referencing style.
