Identify and explain the processing stages that Ryding-Regency Meat Packers might have followed in conducting the recall

On October 8, 2019 the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published details of a recall announced October 4th by Ryding-Regency Meat Packers Ltd. in Toronto, Ontario Canada of raw beef products from the marketplace due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The majority of contaminated products were shipped to locations across Canada, and the company advised consumers not to eat the affected products. However, earlier in the year, Ryding-Regency had signed a contract with the Wisconsin Department Of Corrections (DOC) in Madison, Wisconsin USA to supply boneless beef chuck 85" (product #9022000) to five correctional facilities in the state. The most recent shipment of beef products, packed on May 27, 2019, shipped from Ryding-Regency in Toronto to the five Wisconsin correctional facilities, was included in the recall. Since the shipment involved an international destination and consumers who were incarcerated, senior management at Ryding-Regency could not verify that the DOC would comply with the meat recall and were concerned about potential liability. As a result, the senior management team asked the company's supply chain manager to personally coordinate the recall with DOC and make arrangements to have the contaminated products picked up from the five correctional facilities and returned to Canada for verification and disposal
