Identify whether the argument is inductive or deductive and briefly explain your reasoning Identify unstated premises (warrants)
Question:
Identify whether the argument is inductive or deductive and briefly explain your reasoning
- Identify unstated premises (warrants) that connect premises to conclusions and critically assess whether those unstated premises are reasonable and well-supported. Explain your reasoning using credible sources. This is the big one - the ability to identify the underlying reasoning that connects premises to conclusions is in large part what makes for effective critical reasoning.
- What might account for that agreement or disagreement? Is it possible that some cognitive bias might be influencing one or both of you? What aspects of the argument make the argument more and/or less credible? Briefly explain your reasoning.

For the most part, the opinionated article, " Immigrants Make America Stronger and Richer" by Paul Krugman is credible. I label this article as credible because the author Krugman is not only an opinion columnist for the New York post. Krugman is an economist who taught in M.I.T and has won a noble prize in economics. Therefore, making Krugman a qualified person to write about immigration and the effects it has on the economy. Secondly, many immigrants come from a third world country where they lived in poverty with limited eduction, jobs, and resources for survival. For many people, migrating to the U.S is an opportunity to a better life for themselves and their children. Without hard skills and a language barrier immigrants have no choice but to acquire a labor demanding job with a minimum paying wage. Additionally, immigrants must work countless overtime hours a week to build sufficient finances. This promotes growth in the economy as there is a larger workforce in society.
