Question:
If the Number of communications channels required for a team is calculated using the formula N(N-1)/2, where N is the number of stakeholders, if there are 5 stakeholders, then there must be 5(5-1)/2 5(4): 2 which is then 20: 2 =10 communication channels. The project manager must ensure that five people on the team are communicating in real-time and that there are no gaps in everyone's understanding that they need to manage only 10 communication channels among the team.
And Yes, I do agree with this calculation, it is based on a mathematical formula that is widely used and accepted in determining the number of communication channels within a team. The goal of communication analysis is to identify the information requirements of stakeholders of a Project which includes the type and format of information to be shared (Sebastian,2020). All stakeholders don't have to be included, the project manager needs to know Who needs to know, what needs to be communicated, when it needs to be communicated, where it should be communicated, why it should be communicated, and lastly how it should be communicated. One gauge of your project's communication complexity is the number of potential communication channels. The more channels there are, the more opportunity there is for "noise" to cause miscommunication (Aldridge,2022). There is no advantage in supplying stakeholders with information that isn't needed or desired, and the time spent creating and delivering such information is a waste of time and resources.

What is your comment/feedback on this statement. Please add 1 reference.
The formula to calculate the communication channels is: n x (n - 1) / 2. N is the number of team members. Use the formula to determine the number of communication channels for a team of five members. Based on your calculation, what are the possible number of communication channels on the project team? Do you agree or disagree with the calculation? Should all stakeholders (even those not on the team) be included? Explain your rationale.
