If the simulation was based on a real-world international situation, there would be many different opportunities and challenges. For example, trying to break into an established market like bicycles in 2023 would be difficult. Having the capital to start such an effort would be the first hurdle. Additionally, consumers are continually inundated with established brands as well as never-before-seen brands trying to break into the pool; I imagine it would be hard to make a splash in such a market. In addition to those traditional start-up challenges, going international poses an entirely different set of challenges: varying socioeconomic statuses, different national economic trends, different international tariff/trade laws and sanctions, global competition, and the need to vary marketing strategies (Kerin & Hartley, 2022). Being creative with these challenges can open up new doors of international opportunity. The example of how Amazon expanded to India using creative strategies with deliveries, paying cash for purchases, and revamping their marketing strategy was eye-opening for how even such a massive company like Amazon has to navigate through new strategies to enter a new market (Kerin & Hartley, 2022). In order to take advantage of different market opportunities internationally, capitalizing on a growing business, and breaking into an international market that may be untapped would take much more creativity than just tweaking ad space and opening stores in other countries. The Power-Distance Index is an effective way to measure cultural and international differences, specifically proving helpful in business (Kenton, 2022). Specifically with things like business negotiations, cultural awareness, and economic variability, the PDI would be a useful measure for our company for the following: deciding where to conduct business, how to navigate potential differences in business practices, and whether or not barriers are worth breaking down for a chance to sell in different countries (Kenton, 2022).
