H1: Countries with democracies are less likely to have official religion(s) compared to countries with other regime types.

The descriptive stats that I performed with RStudio show that democratic countries appear to be about 50% less likely (compared to countries with other regime types) to have official religion(s).

I also controlled for whether or not the country was ever colonized by a Western overseas power; and it appears as though colonized countries in this sense tend to have official religion(s) compared to non-colonized countries.
