Imagine that your instructor has assigned you to write a research paper that must address some aspect of "technology."

1. Using one or more of the techniques from Lesson 3, narrow the topic of "technology" to a specific issue or problem. State which techniques you used to narrow the topic.

2. State your narrowed issue or problem and, if necessary, how it relates to technology. Be specific; name actual events, activities, concepts, etc.

Sample Response:

1. I used the Close to Home technique to focus on a particular issue, how to provide internet access to students who dont have access at home. I then used one of the research question templates, How does X impact Y?, to help narrow the scope further.
2. Narrowed issue: How effective are Wi-Fi or hot spot lending programs in community college libraries for student success?

In this case, its obvious to see the connection to technology, so it is not necessary to provide more information for this response. However, more context is always welcome. For example, I know anecdotally that biggest expense are the data plans. I am curious to find out how other community college libraries sustain funding for a project like this.
