In one of my previous retail jobs, I faced a tough decision involving the principle of communicating accurate information. While managing inventory, I noticed we were missing a large amount of 2 items that were frequently shoplifted. Our manager constantly reminded us to be on the look out for shoplifters stealing these items, but this was a tough thing to do as they were placed in blind spots of the store. Every time inventory is done and there were several of these items missing, we would always get a talk from our manager. In an effort to save my coworkers and I from this long talk I was very tempted to lie on the inventory report by saying there weren't many items missing due to shoplifting. Even though this might have sounded like a good idea in the moment, I decided to not go through with it in fear of the consequences
