Question:
In project management, activity on the node is a method under which the precedence diagrammatic method is used to denote scheduled activities with the help of nodes and boxes. In simple words, in this method activities are represented with the help of circles and arrows and are linked together to show the sequence in which they will be executed. The boxes and nodes are connected from beginning to end with the help of arrows logical progression of dependencies between the scheduled activities are depicted. Each node related to a particular activity is coded with an alphabet or by a number. Usually, in this method, the activities are depicted according to their chronological sequences, that is the activities which must be completed first are depicted at the initial node of the diagram followed by the activities which must be executed right after the completion of the first activity. This step is sometimes also known as ?finish-to-start? precedence. In simple words, one activity must be completed in order to start the next activity. The construction of node includes the following steps which are as follows: 1. Node is drawn for each activity. 2. After that, an arrow is added corresponded to the given activity. 3. According to the chronological order, the given activities are executed. Activity on node diagram is also helpful when it comes to the visual depiction of network logic of a complete project schedule. It is recommended to include only critical path schedule activities to ensure that the diagram remains simple and easy and comprehensive.
