In the module lesson, we explored accommodations from a theoretical point of view. We know from previous lessons that tourism, including accommodations, grew around transportation and are part of the reason why the tourism industry looks as it does today.

In recent years, we have seen an uptick in serious challenges to traditional views of accommodations.

- AirBnB and VRBO present challenges to the original foundations of the industry, but opportunities for tourism consumers

- Consumer demands and various innovations are changing how accommodations and service are delivered (think robotics, smarthome technology)

- Glamping, underwater and ice hotels, treehouse hotels, etc. present new ways of traveling in which accommodations are part of the experience

In this task, your job is to:

1. Investigate trends in accommodations to share with peers. Start with those listed above or that interest you.

2. Craft a discussion post:

- Choose a catchy title that reflects your discussion post

- Describe the accommodation innovation

- Include video link or article link in your post, or any other creative expression (remember to cite!)

- Think about and answer these questions:

Who (what target market) is the accommodation intended for, do you think? What need does that accommodation meet? What impact will that innovation have on the future of the accommodation operating sector in the tourism industry? - Be sure to include citations for all materials and ideas used in your post

3. Be sure to comment on each others' posts, contributing to extending the discussion, not merely agreeing.
