POST 1 (L. Francisco
Personally, I believe my style gears more towards an individual learning style. The reason I say this is because of the attitude I pose on myself. It's hard for me to absorb information when others teach it. I need hands on and a lot of visual imagination to learn. I'm the type of person that stays after hours until I learn what's needed. Although I would say collective learning is very effective as well. It allows humans to share information with each other and be more constructive. Individual learning just works best for me, and it works. I love psychology and philosophy. These two subjects really interest me very much. From reading the article I would consider myself diverge. Just seeing how things work and receiving feedback from it interests me. The article states that divergers are "Individuals who prefer concrete experience and reflective observation are referred to as divergers"
The preference I choose just says that my culture is more autonomous. In my opinion I get along with a lot of people, but I do like working alone. Don't get me wrong, the people from my culture are very friendly and are always willing to help. My learning style is very profound and requires a lot of attention. A person needs to follow life on learning for it to work. Throughout my learning and education career the resources I received have been small. Since joining the military, I have more capabilities and options. I feel like I have developed more wisdom for learning. Just recently I retook the ASVAB and scored an 88. I Was very happy because my previous score was 34 and I worked for the score individually. The current situation I'm in has given me more resources for me to grow and expand. My life hasn't always been this fulfilling, in all honesty I recently just learned math. My teachers in the past would not spend much time with me. We also learned this week that teachers can be harsh on students just for being a minority. Essentially this was what happened to me with most of my teachers.
Do you think you have an individual or collective learning style?
2: Would you consider yourself an accommodator, converger, diverger, or assimilator?
3: What do these preferences say about your culture?
4: Do you feel you've received enough resources to accommodate your learning style throughout your educational career? Why or why not?
