In this assignment, you will be performing some research and developing an actual Needs Assessment on a real company. This can be a company you know of, or that you, a family member, or a friend works for.
The Research
Introduce the company you are conducting the needs assessment for. What do they do? What are their mission and vision statements? How does training fit within the mission/vision? What strategic plans do they have as it pertains to workplace education? What are the corporate goals for workplace education? Describe the employees. This should include the positions, number of people in each role, mix of genders and cultures, age ranges, length of service, etc. This provides part of the picture of the organization. You can generally find this information on the organization's website. Some information, you may have to create yourself; try to make it realistic. The company should have no fewer than 30 employees, and no more than 100; just to keep things manageable.
Develop the Needs Assessment
You will need to create some sort of assessment to determine potential training needs for this company. There are many ways to gather information; do some research on the various types of instruments that are used and decide which of them would be best suited for your organization. Describe the methodology of who's getting it, how would you do it, why you are doing it that way, when would it be done, what would it look like.
Using the general information of the organization and the needs assessment you just described, identify 4 to 6 unique training needs and connect them to the organization's strategies. These of course will be training needs that you come up with since you are not actually conducting a needs analysis on real people, but you can come up with several that would be appropriately suited for your organization.
What you need to submit
A Word document (not PDF, not Text, Not RTF) that contains the following:
The company description and the requested details.
Copies of any Needs Assessment surveys and a detailed explanation of what was done to gather the information. If you used a paper or electronic survey method, then provide detailed information about the process and include a list of the questions asked. If you used other methods, provide all the details about what you did, why it was done that way, etc. I want to know how you would have gotten the date needed to determine the training needs
A prioritized list of 4 to 6 identified training needs for that company and the rationale for the needs. This means you need to discuss the connection of the training needs to the organization's goals, mission/vision, strategic plan
