In this discussion, students will evaluate the information systems used by their current employer. Students who are not currently employed may evaluate a system used by a previous employer. If there is no applicable previous employer, a student may research the information system used by any organization. Objectives This discussion will seek to connect the lessons learned in the explorations to a real organization and its information system. Instructions Read the full instructions. Students who do not have a current employer or previous employer can post using the instructions for #2 or #3. Analyze the organization you work for and its information system(s) in the context of the Module 1 material. Items to be included in this discussion are: The name of the organization (this may be a false name if needed) The type of organization The structure of the organization The information systems that are used in the organization How the information systems are used to support information flow and decisions in the organization. The title of the most senior management official that is in charge of the information systems How the information system could be improved to better serve the organization's various business functions. Provide your analysis as a written document to the class in the appropriate discussion area. If you do not have a current employer (a common situation for college students) then the description can be of the organization and information systems of a previous employer or of a company you are somewhat familiar with.
