Please respond to the following prompts:

  1. A Situation Overview: Briefly identify the most significant problem/threat/opportunity that is signaling/did signal a need for change. This should be a brief description of the general nature of the situation creating the need for the change including:
    • The context and general focus of possible change
    • Your perspective on/role in the project
    • Your type of project - A or B or a hybrid (prospective, retrospective or combined)
  2. The Drivers for Change:Identify the drivers for change - what internal and external factors are influencing the organization or part of the organization where you are situating your change? Address the following factors:
    1. Environmental Forces - consider the social, business, economic, political, governmental, technological, legal, demographic, and/or natural.
    2. Marketplace Requirements for Success - what do customers require and what response is necessary to meet these requirements? Think about product & service needs, speed of delivery, quality, innovation, customer service, etc.

    6. Leader and Employee Behavior and Mindset - what must change in people's behavior and worldview to create effective outcomes?
  3. The focus of the Specific Change (based on the situation and drivers above)including:
    1. The scope and/or type (incremental/transformational)
    2. The urgency of the needed change
  4. The Likely Results/Outcomes of the Change: Describe the results/outcomes of making the change - what you think might happen or what was supposed to happen as a result of the change. Look at the change through the lens of the following systems to identify where the most likely effects will (or should have) occur(ed):
    • Customers, Markets, Sales & Marketing
    • Human Resources and Organizational Relationships
    • Processes of Measurement and Organizational Improvement
    • Innovation and Information Usage for Learning
    • Financial and/or Economic Resources
    • Leadership and Organizational Values
  5. Stakeholders of the Change System: Identify the stakeholders of the change system. They include those who will be influenced by this change. Who should be included in the process because they have a stake in the outcome? Begin with the primary stakeholders and extend to other layers of the organization. Some of these players may already be identified in your response to part 4, directly above. If so, simply refer to that explanation, as appropriate.
