A. The two decision-making models are rational and intuitive. The difference between the two is that rational is an eight step process of evaluation and intuitive decision-making is based on past experiences. In comparison, they are both valuable in the decision-making process. The rational model would to be used to weigh the candidates qualifications and what they can bring to the company, while intuition is used when meeting the candidates. For example, an intuitive decision can be made by looking at how someone is dressed for the interview and how they present themselves. In this case, the rational decision-making model would be best. Both candidates are already employed by the company so first impressions are not really going to be important. It's more of a rational decision to decide who fits the role based on their capabilities and knowledge.
b. When looking at this in step by step manner it is simple to identify that we need someone who can expand the company's online presence. When looking through both candidates I can see that they both have great potential in one form or another. If we hire Myra to expand and manage the new initiative we can almost guarantee that the company's culture and environment will reflect this. Where is, if we hire Michael although he has not gotten to know the company as much as Myra he has more experience in how to better expand our online presence. Now when looking at the downside to each person Myra doesn't have a lot of experience with building a site or what it entails. However, Micheal has not been with the company nearly as long as Myra and may not understand some of the company's culture and values. Even if I did try to use intuitive decision making I personally do not think it would be easy to pick just one person for this job. I personally believe that using the rational decision-making proses is the most effective and justifiable way to come to a decision in this instance. I feel as though it allows you to look at the full potential of each person and in what ways it can benefit the company.
