This process can be great for making important decisions regarding a business. First identify the problem, then establish decision criteria, weigh decision criteria, generate alternatives, evaluate alternatives, choose the best alternative, implement the decision, and evaluate the decision. This model can be used in the hiring process because you will not have to make a quick decision on who the best candidate is. Of course if you use this model you will have to have more than one candidate for the job because the model requires alternatives. The intuitive decision making model is using past experience, concepts, and patterns a leader has accumulated. If you combine intuition with other decision making models it can be very useful. The intuitive process can also work for hiring employees especially if you need to hire someone fast. My concern for using this model to choose who is right for a position is if the manager has biases or stereotypes that affect the right decision.I feel that the best model to use for hiring a candidate is to use the rational model. Going through the eight step process can assure the manager that they have thoroughly weighed their options. This model can also help prevent decision making based on stereotypes or biases. When you have one candidate who has been with the company for a long time and worked their way up from an internship but has no experience with technology. The second candidate has technology experience but is not familiar with the companies products then intuitive decision making would not be ideal. I do feel like you could combine the two decision making models for this scenario but I believe the rational model is the best.I think the Rational Decision Making Model could be used in this decision. It helps you by going step by step. This model has an eight step process, identify the problem, establish decision criteria, weigh decision criteria, generate alternatives., evaluate alternatives, choose the best alternative, implement the decision, and finally evaluate the decision. I also think Intuitive Decision Making can be used. Here you can look at the experience, patterns, concepts and other knowledge a leader has accumulated. I feel this intuitive decision may be helpful for this situation because you have Myra a 15 year veteran that has worked her way from the bottom. She actually knows the company in and out. You know what you have in her and how loyal she is to the company.
