Group Assignment Grade Value: 30%

Objective: To research and prepare an in-depth review of a major airport or container port.

Airports/Container Ports: As per your choice

Submission : August 2, 2021

Group Size / Port Location Choice: Maximum of three students per group. Choose an airport or port important for that country or region.

ATTENTION! It is not acceptable to choose a Canadian Airport or Port for your project.

Assignment Components:

1. One page synopsis / Brochure 15 marks:

A one-page, double sided synopsis of the group assignment must be completed, and an electronic copy will be emailed to me, one night before your project submission date. After receiving the document from you. (I will email it to the entire class, on due date). Remember, you are promoting this airport / container port and the synopsis should entice a company to want to do business with your location.

2. Written Part 75 marks:

• The written report must include a brief overview of the country in which the airport/port is located. Geographic location of the airport/ port, population, economic size of the country and any recent key events associated with the country must be included.
• An introduction and investigation of the airport /container port including size, cargo tonnage, evolution of future development at the location must be included.
• A detailed SWOT of the particular port / airport (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats) analysis is to be completed and included in report.
• Once an airport / container port is chosen, students are to investigate

For air shipment

Air freight rates from three major Canadian international airports to your major airport. Freight rates will be for 500 kilograms of standard cargo.

For ocean shipment

Ocean export rates and transit times from three (3) major steamship lines for both a 20 full container load (FCL) and a 40 FCL load to this port exit a major Canadian container port of your choosing.

3. Recent events 10 marks

Since the pandemic

Research the internet and summarize one article about the actual situation of your chosen airport / port.
