Include clearer statement on how it will shape my research: This study focused on four jurisdictions with prosecutor-led diversion programs: Cook County, Illinois; Chittenden County, Vermont; and Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. The primary objective of this research is to establish foundational evidence regarding the effectiveness of these diversion programs in reducing recidivism and enhancing legal outcomes for participants in the study. The findings are promising, indicating that 75 percent of the evaluated programs significantly decreased the likelihood of re-arrest over a two-year period while also lowering the probability of conviction and subsequent incarceration. These results lend a strong support to the efficacy of prosecutor-led diversion initiatives, which encompass a diverse range of characteristics, including varying risk levels, program durations, and legal charges faced by individuals. This study contributes to the growing research and literature advocating for alternative justice approaches, highlighting the potential for diversion programs to not only diminish recidivism but also to facilitate a more rehabilitative and equitable justice system
