Background: Kai Henderson started working in the hotel the summer before his first year of university. Starting as a housekeeping room attendant, Kai is now working part-time as a Front Desk Clerk, while completing his fourth and final year of the Bachelor of Business Administration program at UPEI. Kai was promoted to Front Desk Clerk last year, due to his interest in business, passion for the hospitality industry, and excellent customer service skills. Steve McGuire, the General Manager, knows that Kai will be looking for a permanent full-time job after graduation. Steve sees potential in Kai to continue his career with the hotel and hopes to promote him within the next year to Front Desk Supervisor, and then Assistant Manager in the next two to three years. With Kai's skillset, he could work at any hotel on PEI, or across Canada. Steve is thinking through how he could retain Kai by focusing on his career development with the hotel.
