Question No.2: (7 Marks)
Figure 3 shows the layout of a ten story structure. The floor slab system consists of cast-in-place slabs supported on beams, It is required to:
(i) Show the tributary areas of all beams on the structural plan.
(ii) Calculate the ultimate uniform loads carried by the beam on axis (2) and draw the the beam with its loads.
(iii) Calculate the ultimate load carried by the column on axes (R-2) at fhe omind level.
Ouestion No.3: (15 Marks)
Considering that the loads and bending moments of the beam on axis (2) are as shown in Figure 4, it is required to:
(i) Design the critical sections in flexure at the midspan and at support (b).(Use bar size # 19 for the flexural reinforcement).
(ii) Design the beam critical section in shear at support (a) using #8 stirrups with four branches.
(iii) Draw the designed cross sections showing all reinforcement details.
Question No,4: (8 Marks)
Considering that the ultimate axial load of the column on axis 2-B at the ground level is 2800kN, it is required to:
(i) Design the column as a circular short tied column and draw the reinforcement details. (Intially assume g=1.8% and use bar size #19 for the longitudinal reinforcement).
(ii) Redesign the column as a circular short tied column and draw the reinforcement details if it is subjected to additional ultimate bending moment (Mu)=250kN.m(Use bar size #22 for the longitudinal reinforcement).
