After every 5,000 copies run on a printing press, the Press Lead pulls a sample sheet and hands the sheet to the Press Second. If any of the colours are out of specification, the Press Second documents recommended press modifications on the sample sheet. Once all colours are tested and change recommendations are documented, the Press Lead reviews the results from the Press Second and compares the press sheet to the approved proofs. If the Seconds recommended changes are consistent with the Press Leads assessment of the sample sheet, the Press Lead makes the appropriate changes to the press colour density and pulls another sample sheet for the Press Second to test. If the recommendations are not consistent with the Press Leads assessment, the Press Lead discusses results with the Press Second, modifies recommendations, makes the appropriate press density changes, and pulls another sample sheet for the Press Second to test. This process repeats until the press sheet matches the approved proof.
