Instructions:
1. You will copy or move this sheet into your excel file with your financial statements.
2. Insert the name of your company (heading) and the reported years of the financial data (column headings).
3. Column A tells you the name of the item you are calculating. Column B tells you the formula to perform the calculation. Columns C-E will be the calculations for the various years.
4. Columns C-E require cell references to the financial statements for calculations-- do not type values! Format 3 decimal places.
5. Column E requires the calculation of the percentage of change of the results for columns C&D. Format 3 decimal places.
6. Column F will be where you perform your analysis of your results (interpretation of trend) from columns C & D. Use your ebook Chapter 12 to help you understand the ratio or use google.
Notes: To calculate an average you can do it as a formula or calculate an average separately on the side in the financial statement and reference that cell. If you use a formula it will look like this for the "average" you are calculating ((new-old)/2) , with new representing the most recent year and old being the prior year, for example ((2022-2021)/2) You may use ratio results previously calculated to help calculate a ratio. Just reference that ratio's result instead of making a long formula. If your company does not have a component of the formula and you can still perform the calculation then put a 0 in for that component, otherwise put NA if you can not calculate it.
