Instructions

During this exercise, you will test your powers of observation. You will watch a video and record (using tally marks) how many (1) people you see entering the store, (2) people leaving the store, and (3) people entering or leaving that are wearing a hat. Follow the instructions below for completion of this assignment.

1. Download and print the worksheet found at this link: Assignment Worksheet Download Assignment Worksheet. (If you cannot print this document, reproduce it on a scratch piece of paper so that you collect the same information).
2. Organize yourself in a place where you can concentrate and pay attention to the video without distractions.
3. Keep in mind that as you watch the video, you will be marking down how often three separate things take place. You will need to watch for all of them at the same time and then accurately mark how many times they occur on your worksheet. The easiest way to doo this is to make a simple mark (a tally mark or short straight line like a number 1) in the column indicated.
4. Watch the video just once at normal speed. Do not pause or stop the video to catch up on your markings or rewind to make sure you saw everything. The point of this exercise is to highlight the importance of multiple raters (or observers) when you conduct observations.
