For this assignment you will create a learning philosophy statement that communicates what your fundamental beliefs, values, attitudes, and assumptions are about learning, explains why you hold these beliefs, provides an overview of your learning background and preferences and describes the specific learning strategies that you put into practice that align with your beliefs and learning goals. The aim is to provide an overview of who you are as a learner demonstrated by details drawn from your learning experience. The following guiding questions can be used to help you articulate your learning philosophy. You dont need to explicitly answer every question - the key point is to explore the relationship between your beliefs and your learning approach.

View of Learning

• From your perspective, how do individuals learn? What perspectives of learning resonate with you and why? What beliefs, values, attitudes, and assumptions do you hold about learning? What has led to those beliefs? How have your beliefs been influenced by your learning experiences? Have your experiences, beliefs, attitudes, and understandings of learning changed over time? If so, what has caused those changes?

Learning Background/Preferences

• What motivates you to learn something new? How do you like to learn? What is your ideal learning environment? What are your strengths and challenges as a learner? What interests you most about learning? What aspect of learning do you enjoy most? What role do teachers and other students play in your learning? How do you prefer to access information, engage with content, and express what you know and understand?

Learning Strategies/Goals

• How do your beliefs affect the ways you approach your learning? What learning strategies do you use? How do these strategies align with your beliefs? Who or what has most informed your learning approaches? What are your goals for yourself as a learner? How do you measure your own learning goals? How will you continue to develop, grow, and improve as a learner? What are your future goals and aspirations as a learner? What might you do to improve yourself as a learner, or what practices might you adopt to make yourself a more effective learner?

Format:

Your learning philosophy can be a traditional written statement (600-800 words), just make sure to 'approximate' the amount of work to 600-800 words.
