Background:

You are the manager of operations for Table Corp and have just gone through the various assignments of understanding the financial statements, metrics and how they can identify risk. You$$ve successfully created a budget, analyzed the variance from the budget and learned how finance can have a significant impact on an organization$$s strategy. Now you need to do your own research to make a case for a significant investment in digital tools to enable the processes you just learned to enable these capabilities to be more automated.

The assignment:

Write a $2-3$ page executive summary of the importance of financial insights for management to have at their fingertips to inform decision making at an operational and strategic level. State the types of information that the new tool would need to have the capabilities to deliver and the benefits of these insights.

Share who would use the tool and what type of training and abilities would be needed from its users. Include options of real vendors to choose from, estimated cost to install and operate, a timeline to implement and any other relevant information. Use information you find on vendor websites and other publicly available information to gather your information and find a product or products that would fit the scale of the operation of Desk Corp.

Use visuals if they$$d help tell the story and support the proposal. Ultimately, you$$re working to pitch the owner to move away from an archaic system with virtually no automated processes or reporting capabilities. It$$ll be important to sell him or her on the value a replacement finance system could bring to the company.
