Step 2: Reflect
- Choose two modes of response to conflict and consider how you might apply what you have learned about rhetorical awareness to those modes of response. For example, in the "Smoothing (Accommodating)" response, you might have been listening (or reading) closely what the other has been saying, and "you are aware that the other side position has more justice than your own." To show that you are smoothing the conflict you select words and phrases carefully and adopt a tone that is "reasonable." You are also willing to "admit errors." This might mean holding back from making your point one more time. Feel free to include a brief anecdote (narrative) in your reflection.
