Instructions This assignment continues the work you started on this project from Case Study Assignment #1.
To review: You work as a Six Sigma Green Belt work for Quality Components, Inc., a manufacturer of electronic components used in products such as cell phones and computers. Total Technology, Inc. (TTI), is one of your biggest customers with average annual purchases of over $350,000. TTIs Supplier Quality Engineer, Evelyn Perkins, contacted your Quality Manager, Nathan Brooks, last week to warn him that the quality of the cell phone camera lenses they purchase from you has dropped to 7.9% defective, which is costing them over $250,000 per quarter in scrap, rework and warranty repairs. Evelyn told Nathan that Quality Components will lose TTIs business if the lens quality does not improve to the industry standard of no more than 2% defective within the next quarter. You have been asked to lean a Six Sigma team to address the lens quality level.
Instructions for Assignment #2: You know that it is very important to verify that your measurement system is able to provide accurate information about your process during the Measure stage. You are concerned because your internal inspection records don't show the same defect rate as TTI is reporting, so you decide to perform a Gage R&R study on your final, and most critical, test point to make sure that your measurement system is giving you the right information before you go any further into the project.
