This week's lab will use regression to answer the question: Can you predict clothing sales by number ofcatalogs mailed out to customers?

Hypotheses: In a brief paragraph, just say your impression of the question. If you had to make an educated guess, based on your own real-life experience (and previous SPSS assignments), do you think number of catalogs mailed out to customers would be a good predictor of clothing sales? Why?

SPSS Analysis: We havea data setwith two variables,number of catalogs mailed out to customers(continuous), and thesales of women's clothing within that catalog(also a continuous variable). Open the data (see Dataset Files below). Conduct asimple regression to determine the ability ofnumber of catalogs mailed out to customersto predict women's clothing sales. Please use the SPSS Assignment 8 Lab Book to help guide you through the process of conducting the simple regression, copying and pasting the output to a Word document, and using the values provided to write the regression equation for these variables.

Results: Identify the primary goal of thisanalysis. Report the coefficient of determination (r-squared). Why is this statistic important to this output? Report the F-ratio. Why is this statistic important tothis output? Report the t-value (and it's significance) for the slope. Why is this statistic important to this output? Report the regression equation.

Conclusions: Write a brief paragraph about what your results indicate regarding clothing sales for this company. Can you trust the regression line produced from this analysis?Provide evidence to support your answer.

The file below is for use in the next lab. Please follow the instructions below to upload the file into SPSS so you can begin the lab.

1. Save the file below to your home device.
2. Access the college's Academic Research Network server by referring to the Accessing and Using SPSS for Labs page's section titled "Accessing the Academic Research Network Online Lab."
3. Open SPSS by following the page's "Opening SPSS" section.
4. Upload the data file to your folder in the ARN server by following the "Uploading Your Data File" section.
5. Now you are ready to proceed with the lab. Go to the lab book following this page and proceed with the assignment.
