Internal Combustion Engine design problem ,I will rate positively for good answer
Design an engine for 500kW power generation. The thermal efficiency of the engine should be more than 60%. The rpm of the crankshaft should not be more than 6000 . You can use any one of the gas power cycles including Otto cycle, Diesel cycle or Dual cycle. The engine can be either two-stroke or four-stroke with the number of cylinders of your choice. Define following parameters of the engine: (1) Select suitable material of the cylinder block, cylinder head and piston so that the maximum pressure should not exceed the yield strength of the material and maximum temperature should be 30% lesser than the melting temperature of the material (2) Bore and stroke of one cylinder of the engine (3) The volumetric efficiency of the four-stroke engine (4) The delivery ratio and the scavenging efficiency in case of the two stroke engine (5) The sizes and numbers of the intake and exhaust valves in the case of four-stroke engine (6) The arrangement of the intake and exhaust valves in the case of the four-stroke engine (7) The arrangement of the cylinders for occupying minimum overall space by the engine (8) The indicated power of the engine (9) The mechanical efficiency of the engine (10) The brake specific fuel consumption of the engine
