Introduction Your final project has twa parts. Part 1 Select one reading (including the novel if you like) and explain why you found it personally relevant or intriguing. Your explanation should be about 1,000 words long and integrate at least four specific examples. Be sure to offer careful analysis and write clearly. Audience Assume your audience doesn't remember the reading perfectly, so a short summary, no more than a paragraph, will be useful. Specific details will be beneficial. It is appropriate to use "I" in this part of the project. Part 2 Write a letter to me talking about what you learned about writing and/or literature this semester. The essay should be about 500 words long. Audience Me Suggestions Devote some time to prewriting before you sit down to draft the essay. Integrate sources, but do so thoughtfully. Make sure that each source serves a specific purpose in your paper. If you quote, make sure the quotation says exactly what you need it to. Consider your audience and decide how you will make it possible for them to agree with you. Remember, audiences are more likely to agree with writing they enjoy, so consider how you will entertain and inform your readers. Stay focused. You do not have much space. A focused discussion of one element with ample supporting evidence and analysis will be more effective than a diffuse discussion of multiple features. Specifics Develop a clear and focused essay that presents a compelling argument. Organize the paper so each element flows from the one before. Integrate specific evidence both from the literature and your research. Each piece of evidence should serve a clear purpose, and that purpose should be explained to the reader.
