Irregular approaches include clandestine activities known as nonconventional activities with nonviolent actions and activities that support others, these approaches are then applied in conflict and in cooperations with both non-state and state players (Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2020). The Special Operations Forces (SOF) core activities support irregular warfare through consideration of the totality of the cognitive, informational, physical, cultural, and social aspects of the operational environment; this allows special operations forces to influence the local population's behavior (Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2020). SOF utilize these techniques to influence relevant populations, enhance stability, prevent future conflict, and when necessary, to fight and win against adversaries (Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2020)
