Evidence: Gideon decided not to take further initiatives due to lack of recognition: $"$He decided he would not take any initiatives unless instructed."

Solution: Motivate and Recognize Efforts:

Solution: Regularly recognize and reward efforts and achievements.

Motivation theory: Deci et al$.(2017)$ state: "Recognition and rewards are crucial for enhancing intrinsic motivation and job satisfaction among employees. When employees feel that their efforts are acknowledged and appreciated, they are more likely to be motivated to perform at a high level" $($p$.102)$

Formal recognition programs, combined with informal gestures such as verbal praise and personalized acknowledgments, can contribute significantly to enhancing employee morale and engagement" $($Deci et al$.,2017,$ p$.104).$
