IT PROJECT MANAGEMENT (Project Libre)
You have been assigned as the project manager for a new rental property that has recently been purchased. The closing date for the house is scheduled for 45 days from the assignment due date. From a role play perspective, let's assume that the current housing market rental demand is such that the rental property needs to be ready for occupancy within 2 months of the closing date. Therefore the rental house needs to be complete and ready for move in no later than 2 months after the assignment due date.
Note, the owner of the rental property would like to have the interior of the house complete in 1.5 months after the closing date so that the house can be shown to prospective renters.
Assignment Directions/Requirements: You are required to create/build a project plan (in either Project Libre or Atlassian Jira) in order to show if the house can be available before 2 months from the closing date and the preferred showing time of 1.5 months after the closing date. The project will also show what the expected costs will be of the completed project.
Assignment Requirements:
Use Project Libre to complete the following steps:
Enter the events and durations from the information presented immediately below.
Enter the linkages between events (based on the dependencies/predecessors).
Determine the start and end dates of the project given the assigned durations.
Determine the anticipated final project costs.
Produce a brief written "executive summary" (towards the attention of the rental property owner) of your findings after completing the project plan. Here are a couple of preliminary questions to help get this document created (this shouldn't be considered to be an all-inclusive list):Can the expected due dates be met/obtained; why or why not?
If the due date cannot be met; what recommendations/suggestions can be made to potentially reach the required due date?
What is the total cost of the project currently estimated to be?
In your opinion, is this a reasonable cost, why or why not?
What considerations (if any) could the project obtain additional cost savings (with or without jeopardizing the project due date).
