Step 1: Create a Keyword Table

Begin by creating a keyword table on your chosen research topic. These keywords will help you identify the key concepts and terms in your topic, and they will be the words you search when looking for research sources throughout the term. You will use the Texas University Keyword Generator to create this list.

After following the guided steps in the tool, you'll be left with a table of keywords/ search terms.

Here's an example of what the finished table will look like. My topic is "Racist microaggressions in the workplace."

Step 2:

Conduct research using your keywords using Google and the Humber Library Database.

You are looking to find 3 sources on your topic:

1. One popular source (news or magazine article, blog post, web article)
2. One professional source (research report, fact sheet by a credible organization, professional trade magazine)
3. One academic source (academic journal article, conference paper or book that includes citations)
