Kindly help respond to this discussion post:

Before we go any further, we need to understand what administrative function is. Well according to Law Insider (n.d.), administrative functions include operations such as tax assessment and collection, personnel services, purchasing, records management services, data processing, warehousing, equipment repair, and printing that are generally connected with the ordinary running of government. Therefore, procurement viewed in the context of administrative function is correct.

However, to say that it lacks a strategic focus maybe debatable. Procurement requires that its practitioners strong understanding of accounting methods and techniques. This in itself is a strategy that management can use in selecting of a procurement committee.

In contacts with suppliers, procurement professionals should also demonstrate their ability to use the resources available to gain the most value for the business. Methods for financial analysis and calculating total cost of ownership, as well as strategies for developing competition that results in increased purchased value for the company, are among these instruments.

Therefore, procurement does have and should always have a strategic focus.
